One of the examples is: “ Írj, ha megérkeztél!” and the translation is: “write me when you arrived”. The English sounds a bit odd – would other translations be “When you arrive, write to me” (ie I am not sure if you’ve arrived, so please let me know) or “Write to me when you’ve arrived” (ie once you have arrived, please let me know) or indeed “if you have arrived, write to me” (ie I don’t know if you have arrived, so let me know) Whilst they are all extremely similar, there are some small differences in emphasis (perhaps), It’s just that “write to me when you arrived” sounds a bit odd – it implies that I know you have arrived but I don’t know when, so I want you to tell me the time you arrived. But that doesn’t seem to be the correct meaning when I look at the Hungarian…!???
So, “Jól esik” means “it feels good”?
The correct would be – Write me when you have arrived. Or Write me once you have arrived. But, take it one step further – Write me when you have arrived – would pertain to times when we only had pen and paper technology. Thus, today where everyone is smart phone calable, it would be – Text me when you have arrived. Or, Yo, hit me up when you get there. etc… 😎
